Brunswick Crossing’s schools, comprised of Brunswick Elementary, Middle and High School, are part of Frederick County’s well regarded public school system. All less than five minutes from Brunswick Crossing, Brunswick schools pride themselves on a sense of community. School bus stops are conveniently located at both traffic circles off of Potomac View Parkway within Brunswick Crossing.
Welcoming students from kindergarten through fifth grade, Brunswick Elementary School is located on Central Avenue. Future plans to extend Central Avenue to Brunswick Crossing will make BES very accessible and integrated into the Brunswick Crossing community. Brunswick Elementary School incorporates technology for “today’s students” with resources such as 125 internet connected computers, in addition to a 20 computer research lab in the Media Center and a laptop for each teacher. Frederick County Public Schools meets the diverse needs of its students with a range of instructional strategies including the Elementary Magnet Program offering a comprehensive education serving the unique needs and varied learning styles of academically gifted students in grades 1–5.
The Brunswick Middle School is fed by BES and Valley Elementary in Jefferson. A new addition to the original school opened in 2006. Known as “The Railroaders”, a nickname for its popular sports teams is reminiscent of Brunswick’s historic roots as a railroad town. Courses and activities capitalize on this age group’s energy and inquisitiveness by providing diverse learning opportunities in a supportive environment. The curriculum includes the required subjects of language arts, social studies, science, math and physical education. Each student is also required to explore activities in family and consumer science. Students who would like a wider sample of study and/or a more in-depth experience may choose electives such as world language, band, chorus, theatre and visual art. In all areas, students are grouped in a variety of ways so they can study relationships between subjects.
